Description: Matt FX has previously been featured in the New York Times, The Fader, Pitchfork, Vice, Mixmag, Billboard, Milk, Forbes, and Jezebel. Ripe with both emotional turmoil and cathartic release, "Vaquero" turns gurgling acid, rugged drum programming, and triumphant horns into house bliss! All proceeds from the track will be going directly to Crisis Text Line, a not for profit organization dedicated to providing 24/7 support to those in need. Born out of a period of mental anguish on a particularly dark night early in our current Covid-19 shutdown, "Vaquero" finds Matt turning to a memory of an afternoon spent in the mountains of Tepotzlan in Mexico learning how to ride horseback with a group of Vaqueros (Mexican cowboys). The memory of the strength of their rugged, confident disposition, earned from years of scorching days and spooky nights in the Mexican countryside, helped provide a glimmer of hope. He set out to make a track in an effort to crystalize all of these emotions -- panic, sadness, and fear but also steadfast hope and strength. As we continue through this dark period of uncertainty, he hopes the track will help people find that same sense strength. We must be cautious, yes, but also calm - just like a Vaquero in the night.
